American Pitbull Terrier
History
The American Pitbull Terrier is a very hard breed to trace. However
history shows that they are a 50/50 cross between the bulldog of
England and now extinct hunting terriers. Some say that todays pitbull
is a living replica of the old-time bulldog. Which were primarily
used for hunting fighting and war.
Appearance
The American Pitbull Terrier is a very stong and athletic dog. They are medium sized with a short coat, and a very muscular defined body. American pitbull terriers have a broad head with a flat skull and a wide muzzle. The ears can be natural or cropped. American pitbull terriers can be many different colors and patterns.
Temperament
American Pitbull terriers are very friendly towards family friends and even children. They are known for there intelligence, strength, and confidence. They are protective towards loved ones and great companions. However the Pitbull terrier is dog agressive, but only when challenged. Be cautious when around cats, rabitts, domestic fowl, and other such animals, because of the pitbulls very high prey drive. American Pitbull terriers do interact well with people and other dogs. Each pitbulls temperament, socialization, and early training all play a huge part in the animals capability to bond with humans and other animals.
